Martin's Cages

Martin's cages make great homes for rats if you have between 2 and 6 ratties.
They have a variety of cage sizes and styles and you can find and order them online here

Maternity Cage

This is where Momma rat spends about a week prior to deliver and the following few weeks with her newborn ratlets. In this fully secured, well ventilated cage, she is given any number of "houses" ranging from the Large Size igloo, to a tall cardboard box to a wooden hut. The house gives the moms somewhere to climb on top of when they want a break - as well as a "den" habitat to keep their babies in while nursing them.
We purchased these cages here

Litter Cage

After the pups reach the "popcorn" or "hopper" stage (around 2-1/2 weeks old), we move them (along with momma rat) to one of our Litter Cages - this gives him secure space below to play and gives mom a place to go to get a few brief breaks from them throughout the day. It also provides them a safe place to learn how to climb! We purchased this setup at our local pet supply retailer.

Avoderm Weight Management Dog Food

Our rat's base diet consists of Avoderm Weight Management Dog Food. It hold everything essential for a healthy rat - just make sure you buy the LITE/WEIGHT MANAGEMENT version!
You can buy this at your local pet store!

Oatmeal

Fed dry and mixed in with their staple diet, rats seems to love this and it is nutritious for them as well!

Whole Wheat Pasta

We typically feed Farfalle, as the shape is easiest for rats to pick up and chew on. Any bran will do as long as it is "whole wheat". This helps trim their ev ever-growing teeth as well.

Dried Fruit

Look online for "forbidden fruits" prior to shopping to make sure you do not buy anything toxic to our little friends. Rats adore these dried fruit snacks that we mix a small amount of into their dry food mixture.

Fresh Fruits & Vegetables

We feed fresh fruits and veggies daily to supplement our rats standard diet. They love it and it keeps them in good health long into old age.

Bedding used for All Cages

We use CareFresh Natural bedding for our pregnant rats and nursing mothers with pups. It is softer than most bedding and lower on dust than the bedding we use for our weaned pups. The odor control is not as good as we could wish, and it is a little dusty - but it works the best out of what we have found for our litters.
You can buy this at your local pet store chain or online, for the best price we could find here
